Access to official documents
The BGÖ (Bundesgesetz über das Öffentlichkeitsprinzip in der Verwaltung), the Swiss Federal Act on the principle of transparency in the Administration became law on 1st July 2006. Its purpose is to facilitate the transparency of government business, organisation and activities. To this end, it guarantees access to official documents.
A charge is normally made for access to official documents. However, the charge is not payable if it is less than CHF 100. If the charge is likely to exceed CHF 100, users are notified and are required to confirm the request before it is processed.
