The executive board of the Swiss Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate (ENSI) has named Tamara Garny as new Director of the Resources Division. The 43 year old will take up her new position on 1 June 2018. She succeeds to Jean-Claude Veyre, who is now responsible for Quality Management at ENSI.
The executive board of the Swiss Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate (ENSI) has named Andreas Schefer as the new Chief of Staff. The 48 year old lawyer is taking over from Felix Altorfer, who at the start of 2017 became Director of the Waste Management Division.
Felix Altorfer, Director of the Staff of the Directorate, will be switching to the Waste Management Division and taking over as its Director at the beginning of 2017. This decision was made by the ENSI Board in today’s meeting.
The existing Director of the Waste Management Division, Michael Wieser, is leaving the Swiss Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate (ENSI) in search of a new professional challenge. The ENSI Board has therefore appointed a selection committee to find his successor.
Rosa Sardella is to be the new Director of the Division for Radiation Protection at ENSI. The ENSI Board has appointed the 47 year old, who holds a doctorate in nuclear engineering, as the successor to retiring Division Director Georges Piller, effective July 1st, 2016.

The experts of the Safety Analyses department continually evaluate installations in normal operation and devote themselves to the modelling, forecasting and diagnosis of abnormal occurrences in order to establish the best possible safety standards. Their work is based on the latest methods and models that adequate describing the behaviour of a nuclear installation.
In addition to the technical aspects of nuclear safety there are human and organisational factors that also have to be taken into account. ENSI specialists analyse the handling of safety issues within an organisation and the psychological phenomena of employees at nuclear installations, in normal operation and in emergencies just as they analyse nuclear technology.
